ADVANCED ARRANGEMENTS REQUIRED

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation is provided by volunteers to those individuals needing assistance as follows: Off-Island transportation is provided for non-emergency medical and dental appointments only. On-island transportation is provided for essential non-emergency activities such as medical, dental, grocery shopping and banking. Volunteers provide their own vehicles.

VISITATION:
Non-professional visitation for brief periods for individuals needing companionship in their home environment. Non-professional respite care for brief periods to allow the caregiver time to themselves or to complete errands.

MEALS BY F.I.S.H.:
A hot, inexpensive, meal is delivered by a volunteer for lunch Monday through Friday.  Food is prepared by a local establishment.  Meals can be on a temporary or permanent schedule.  There is a small cost for the meals.  Delivery is free.

HEALTH CARE EQUIPMENT:
Small, non-electrical, equipment such as: wheel chairs, walkers, canes, crutches, commodes, raised toilet seats and shower chairs are available for temporary loan.

FRIENDLY FACES:
This is a luncheon gathering, sponsored by F.I.S.H., is held the second Tuesday of each month and open to the public. Prices are reasonable and reservations are required.

ALZHEIMER SUPPORT GROUP: 
Our Alzheimer's Support Group meets on the third Wed. of each month at 10:00 A.M. in the conference room at the Bank of the Islands on Periwinkle Way and Casa Ybel Road.  A member of the professional staff of the Ft. Myers Alzheimer's Association facilitates this group.  Anyone who finds themselves in a caregiver's situation and would like some helpful hints and support is most welcome to attend this group.  There is no charge for the sessions. SUPPORT GROUP INFORMATION:
A listing of available groups on Sanibel and Captiva for caregivers, grief counseling, and other needs.

HOME HEALTH REFERRAL:
A listing of home health care services for islanders needing medical, physical therapy or personal care.  Clients will pay the agencies for services rendered.

PERSON TO PERSON:
Combines a reassurance phone call with immediate investigative response if no answer obtained Monday through Friday.  It functions in cooperation with the Sanibel Police Department.

HURRICANE EMERGENCY INFORMATION:
A listing of special needs shelters and emergency contact numbers, as well as web sites is kept updated for each season for anyone needing this information: clients and their families, volunteers, board members, etc…
